Art Sessions

Part of my preparations for this trip — besides learning some basic Portuguese — is preparing to teach art sessions for the fistula patients at CEML Hospital in Lubango, Angola. These are women who are extremely socially ostracized due to their medical condition. I have come up with four different topics to teach them about: drawing animals, landscapes, abstracts and portraits. I plan to both demonstrate drawing (and painting) and make a presentation about each topic as well as give each woman the opportunity to also create their own work of art at each session.
